Cullen Rogers is getting in touch with his inner child as the star of Theatre-Hikes’ “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Aug. 2-31, at the Morton Arboretum, 4100 Rte. 53, Lisle. “I’ve been trying to force myself to grow up for quite a while,” Rogers joked, “and now being asked to revert to this 8-year-old kid is kind of challenging.”
The musical is based on Charles M. Schulz’s “Peanuts” beloved comic strip. This production will be staged in one place with the hikes taking place before the show and at intermission.
It’s a typical day in Charlie’s life. “He battles with the tension of confronting his crush—the Little Red-Haired Girl,” Rogers said. His other problems include “constantly getting teased by Lucy, trying to fly a kite and failing miserably, and losing a baseball game.”
Thank goodness his dog Snoopy thinks Charlie’s a winner.
Tickets are $20, $10 for children; $10 and $5 for Arboretum members.
