Kenneth Smith has been Lyons Township’s leading scorer during its four-game winning streak, but everyone seemed to contribute for its fifth win in a row Friday night.

Chris O’Reilly and Matt Robare scored a game-high 14 points each and Chris Antalek added a career-high 13 points and nine rebounds as LT kept its win streak alive with a 66-54 win at Hinsdale Central.

The Lions (7-9, 3-2) won their third consecutive game in the West Suburban Silver. LT won its season opener and then lost seven straight.

Against the Devils, the Lions made 8-of-19 three-pointers.

“We have to do it as a team,” LT coach Tom Sloan said.

Both teams combined to make five three-pointers in the first six baskets of the game, but the Lions’ 2-3 zone took the Devils (9-6, 2-3) out of it in the second quarter. LT scored eight consecutive points midway through the period and opened a 26-18 lead. The Lions led 35-24 at halftime.

The Red Devils shot 4-of-13 from the floor in the second quarter and 3-of-13 in the third quarter.

“I thought we got good looks,” Hinsdale Central coach Nick Latorre said. “We didn’t shoot that well. In the game, I thought our defense was poor. We didn’t defend well.”

Brad Anlauf led Hinsdale Central with 12 points, but second leading scorer Tom Garvin had one point in the first half and finished with 10 overall.

O’Reilly scored 13 of his points in the first half for LT, which hasn’t lost sine a 72-57 defeat to St. Francis Dec. 29 at York’s Tosh Holiday Classic.

“It’s a good feeling for the whole team,” Antalek said “That’s our offense. We are a bunch of hustlers. We’re going to keep going. At practice, we keep working hard every time.”

The Red Devils scored 11 consecutive points in the fourth quarter to come within 53-46, but LT responded with three free throws and would not allow Hinsdale Central to get any closer.

“Every game we come out playing well helps build our confidence,” Sloan said. “We’ve won our fifth in a row and 6-of-8 since Christmas.”
