DARIEN — In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Hinsdale Central will play at District 86 rival Hinsdale South at 6 p.m. Tuesday in its annual “Volley for the Cure” nonconference match.

For the past few years Hinsdale South and Hinsdale Central’s girls volleyball programs have raised money for breast cancer awareness. Two years ago, Hinsdale South raised over $10,000 and the team is hoping to surpass that total.

All proceeds will benefit the Hinsdale Hospital “Open Arms” Foundation, which works directly with the surrounding communities to aid in the battle against breast cancer.

The event was one day in previous years, but this year South will be host to a week-long cause. The team will paint the hallways of South pink, have spirit theme days and highlight different sporting events.

The match will feature a raffle and sell T-shirt and bracelets. The freshman A and sophomore match begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity.
