LAGRANGE PARK – The Bartels brothers share more than just family and the same school, they share the position of quarterback at Nazareth Academy, High School Cube News reports. According to High School Cube News,
"Nazareth senior quarterback Jake Bartels always thought his younger brother Carson would be a star running back or linebacker in high school.
Those were the positions — and not the one Jake Bartels played — that Carson Bartels shined at during his youth football career with the Westchester Raiders. But Carson Bartels had a different plan for when he entered high school.
“I was kind of surprised when he told me freshman year he was going to try out for quarterback,” Jake Bartels said. “He was such a good running back and linebacker in grade school. He proved me wrong. He had a phenomenal year last year. Watching him last year and this year, he has some serious skills.”
Not only are the brothers now playing the same position, but they are splitting snaps along with junior Jonah Beauduy in the Roadrunners’ three-quarterback rotation.
Nazareth (5-2, 3-2) installed its three-QB system for the first time Saturday and knocked off its second straight previously unbeaten East Suburban Catholic foe, beating visiting Benet 28-18. Carson Bartels, a 5-foot-10, 155-pound sophomore, on Saturday played two quarters of the sophomore game before seeing action with the varsity."
