Senior forward Simmie Cobbs Jr. scored 10 of his career-high 28 points in overtime to lead Oak Park-River Forest (6-0) past the visiting Hornets (4-3) in a low-scoring nonconference contest between zone defensive teams. The score was tied at 37 at the end of regulation after just eight combined baskets in the second half. The Huskies outscored Hinsdale South 16-6 in OT.
After Hinsdale South's first basket in overtime, senior guard Jason Gant made a 3-pointer for the Huskies that started a five-point run. The Hornets made another basket to come within 43-41, but could not hit a field goal for the remaining two minutes of overtime.
Cobbs, a Purdue-bound football player, had a previous season high of 23 points against Riverside-Brookfield. Cobbs had 10 points in the first half, including three 3-pointers and finished with 12 rebounds in the game.
