Two years after transferring from Walther, Omarr Gilbert has become important piece for Lyons, according to High School Cube News.

Lyons guard Omarr Gilbert has made great strides for the Lions since transferring from then-Walther Lutheran following his sophomore year.

The 5-foot-10 senior guard has become a consistent scorer and solid contributor for Lyons, which defeated Downers Grove North 55-36 in a West Suburban Silver matchup Friday in Downers Grove.

Gilbert was a role player last season, but has led the Lions (5-3, 2-1) in the scoring column on a few occasions this year, including Friday when he drained two 3-pointers and had 12 points.

“Number one, is his confidence [has grown],” said Lyons coach Tom Sloan. “He was a good player last year that was new to the school, so we did not really know what kind of player he was and we had a couple other players in front of him.
