Nazareth and Gordon Tech boys basketball teams battled last Saturday but it wasn't their game that had everyone talking, according to High School Cube News.

Nazareth boys basketball coach John Bonk will always have fond memories of Weber High School, where he taught and coached from 1980-1996.

Before Saturday’s second annual Weber Shootout featuring Nazareth and Gordon Tech, Bonk brought a few Weber graduates into the Roadrunners’ locker room to meet his players. Bonk turned the experience into a teaching moment, cautioning his Roadrunners to appreciate their high school since it won’t be around forever.

“I told the [Weber grads], ‘We would like it if you can adopt our team for a day,’ ” Bonk said.

Bonk was greeted by former Weber players after the game. He coached the Red Horde for several years and led Weber to regional championships in 1986, 1991 and 1992, and reached the Sweet 16 in 1994.
