Nazareth's boys basketball team has several players that have known each other for years and that helps them on and off the court, according to High School Cube News.

Nazareth senior John Mazur has been on varsity since he was a sophomore, but this could be the most memorable season yet.

Mazur is one of five seniors starting for the Roadrunners, including some of his closest buddies.

“I have some great friends on this team,” Mazur said. “Kevin [Connelly] and Chris [Swade] are my best friends and I’ve been playing with them since third grade.”

“He’s one of my better friends at Naz,” Swade said of Mazur. “He’s a great worker, a great shooter and a great all-around teammate. He keeps the team together and always picks you up when you make a bad play.”

All three played in a small Western Springs league for third- and fourth-graders. They spent the next four years playing for the Western Springs Blazers travel team.
