Sometimes good things happen when least expected.
Hinsdale South sophomore Josh King was speaking to an Illinois assistant football coach Sunday night when out of the blue the coach extended King a scholarship.
It was the second bid King has received in the last couple of weeks. King, a 6-foot-6, 235-pound defensive end, has played only one season of high school football, but now has two offers from Big Ten schools. Iowa also joined the mix after King made an unofficial visit to the Iowa City campus.
“It feels good. I really wasn’t expect it,” King said. “I hope it will take off. I’m only in my sophomore year. I know there is a lot more to come. I have to focus on my game.”
