Host Brother Rice headed into the competition 1-1 and early on it looked like the Crusaders would leave 2-1. The Crusaders put a halt to Fenwick's Gino Cavalieri who threw eight incomplete passes in the first quarter and Fenwick's offense seemed sluggish. The Friars woke up and the game was neck-and-neck until Cavalieri and Robert Spillane connected for an 11-yard touchdown to take a 21-17 lead in the third. Brother Rice responded with a field goal but not before Cavalieri and Spillane connected for a one-yarder locking in the 28-20 win.
Brother Rice and Fenwick left the first half tied at 14 but the Crusaders came back, scoring on a 21-yard field goal by Brian Kane to break the tie. The Crusaders missed their chance at another field goal after a bad snap and the Friars took control, scoring two more touchdowns thanks to Cavalieri and Spillane for the 28-20 win.
