Hinsdale South 57, Leyden 35
Hinsdale South wasn’t able to reach its goal of winning a third straight West Suburban Gold championship, but the Hornets took care of business Friday in Northlake to clinch third place. Leyden took an early lead, but Hinsdale South (12-13) quickly responded and was in control the rest of the way to finish with an 8-4 conference mark.
Hinsdale South led just 23-17 midway through the second quarter, but junior forward Taylor Barnes scored an inside basket to jumpstart a 10-0 run to end the first half. The Eagles (6-18, 0-12) never got closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
