Girls basketball: Hard work gives Lyons sophomore a chance to contribute

Coming into the season new Lyons girls basketball coach Paul Krick didn't know what he had in sophomore Nina Scaramella but he sure does now, according to the High School Cube News.

Nina Scaramella wasn’t expecting to make a big impact for first-year Lyons coach Paul Krick this season.

The sophomore guard is in her initial varsity season and didn’t know what would happen on a new team with a new coach.  

But with a team-high 15 points Dec. 10 in a 69-63 win over preseason West Suburban Silver favorite Hinsdale Central, Scaramella’s outlook is starting to change.  

“I’m hoping to contribute more to the team, but I’ve only played seven games,” said Scaramella, a Willow Springs resident.
