Girls basketball: Hinsdale South falls to Willowbrook 58-38

Hinsdale South couldn't overcome a big halftime deficit as they fell to Willowbrook 58-38, according to High School Cube News.

THE SKINNY

Coming off a ninth-place finish at the Wheaton North Holiday Classic, Willowbrook (14-2, 5-0) started the new year Saturday night with a rout of two-time defending West Suburban Gold champion Hinsdale South to claim sole possession of first place in Darien.

TURNING POINT

After Hinsdale South (7-9, 3-1) netted its first basket of the second quarter to take a 12-10 lead, the Warriors scored 13 consecutive points to take a 32-15 lead at halftime. The Hornets shot 1-of-8 from the field in the second quarter and went more than eight minutes without a basket until a layup early in the third quarter.  

THE STAR

Leading scorer Molly Krawczykowski scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the first half for the Warriors. Krawczykowski scored six points during the decisive 13-point run as the Warriors shot 8-of-12 in the quarter.
