Led by their great free throw shooting, Lyons beat Hinsdale Central 69-63 in girls basketball, according to High School Cube News.

THE SKINNY

Lyons (5-2, 1-1 WSC Silver) fought its way back from a 24-13 first quarter deficit against Hinsdale Central (7-2, 2-1) by turning the Red Devils’ aggressive defense against them and forcing them into foul trouble. The Lions finally took control from the line by going 17-of-21 in the fourth while the Red Devils had five players foul out.

TURNING POINT

The Red Devils’ foul trouble caught up to them when senior forwards Jenna Broz and Emily Wasz fouled out on back-to-back possessions early in the fourth quarter, which cost them their interior presence.

THE STAR

Lions sophomore forward Erin Corrigan was a frequent visitor to the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. She made her appearances count by going 8-of-10 from the line in the quarter. She finished with 13 points and seven rebounds.
