Girls basketball: St. Ignatius beats Nazareth 46-35 for the Riverside-Brookfield Holiday tournament title

Nazareth's poor shooting doomed them in their loss in the final of the Riverside-Brookfield Holiday tournament, according to High School Cube News.

THE SKINNY

Nazareth made just one basket in the fourth quarter and missed its last nine shots as St. Ignatius won the Riverside-Brookfield Holiday tournament Saturday by finishing with a 5-0 record. The Wolfpack (9-5) snapped Nazareth's five-game winning streak.

TURNING POINT

St. Ignatius led 35-32 at the end of the third quarter. Senior guard Sydney Newman started the scoring in the fourth quarter with a game-tying 3-pointer with 7 minutes, 9 seconds left for Nazareth (12-3), but it was all Wolfpack for the rest of the game. St. Ignatius' last run started with a 3-pointer by Emma Brennan (11 points).

THE STAR

Senior forward Katie Gallagher was named the tournament MVP after her game-high 15 points and eight rebounds for the Wolfpack. Gallagher scored eight of St. Ignatius' 12 points in the third quarter.
