Girls gymnastics: Hinsdale Central sophomore takes leadership role

The Red Devils' all-arounder is the top gymnast for a Hinsdale Central team in midst of rebuilding, according to High School Cube News.

Hinsdale Central sophomore Jamie Sherlock decided to try gymnastics at the urging of her best friend Gabi Seo, back when the two girls were in third grade.

Sherlock had to go it alone when she practiced at Action Gymnastics in Darien. Seo had been in gymnastics for a while and was well ahead of Sherlock’s skill level. Still, Sherlock stuck with it. 

“I was awful and she was really good so we never practiced together but I really loved the coaches,” Sherlock said. “Something made me want to work harder toward my goals and perfecting it. It was kind of frustrating at first but I was young and it was fun.”
