Going into the season, Hinsdale Central girls tennis looked to this year as a rebuilding year by welcoming many new faces. However, after Saturday's invitational it seems as though the girls may be just as strong, High School Cube News reports. High School Cube News writes,
"Hinsdale Central girls tennis coach Robin Kramer welcomed a lot of new players this season, but is seeing the same old results early on.
With only sophomore Sophia Haleas returning from last year’s state runner-up, Kramer rebuilt her varsity lineup with at least four freshmen, including rising star Bella Lorenzini of Clarendon Hills at No. 1 singles.
At Saturday’s Red Devil Invitational, Lorenzini had her first showdown with Northwestern-bound Alex Chatt of Lyons, who took third at last year’s state tournament and defeated Lorenzini 6-1, 6-2 in Saturday’s final.
“It was tough, but obviously a good match,” said Lorenzini. “I was trying to keep up. I thought I played pretty well. I know she can be dominating, so I knew what to expect. I didn’t know how she played, but I figured that out in the second set pretty late.”
Both Chatt and Lorenzini are ranked No. 2 in the state in their class by tennisrecruiting.net. Lorenzini is No. 25 nationally and Chatt is No. 42."
