1. Aging Care Connections 13th Annual Sports Ball Benefit Gala, 6 p.m. Friday,

Aging Care Connections’ 13th annual gala features comedian Pat McGann and an evening of tailgate cocktails, skybox dining, auctions, bocce and bowling. Sports Ball is Aging Care Connections’ major fundraising event held to support the organization’s social service programs assisting those 60 years of age and older in suburban Cook County. 2. Friday at the Ford Presents Jim Green, 7:30 p.m. Friday,

7:30 p.m.: Singer/songwriter Jim Green is a former Guitar Idol Champion who was named “one of the best artists in the Midwest” by Billboard Magazine. 3. Comedy Night, 8 p.m. Friday,

4. Park Pride, 8:30 a.m. Saturday,

Residents can donate a morning to improving the community. Gardens are weeded and planted, trees mulched, small branches picked up, walkways swept and litter collected. 5. Book Signing, noon Saturday,

Local author Michael McWade will be signing copies of his newest book, “Summer Camp.” The book details the early life adventures of Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen. Summer Camp will help children learn the importance of teamwork and tolerance and improve their skills to face real world issues. 6. It's a Painting Party, 2 p.m. Saturday,

Join the studio every Saturday for a BYOB painting party. Participants can paint a piece by a local artist while enjoying a beverage. Cost includes all painting supplies and a 16-by-20 take-home canvas. Must be 18 or older to attend. Registration required. Bottle & Bottega, 1 W. Harris Ave., La Grange. $35.

7. A Golden Night Fundraiser, 5:30 p.m. Saturday,

Join As Good as Gold, Golden Retriever Rescue of Illinois for A Golden Night, the group’s largest fundraiser of the year. The night begins with an open bar reception with passed hors d’oeuvres during a silent auction, followed by a plated dinner and live auction. All proceeds benefit As Good as Gold, a golden retriever animal rescue group and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Brookfield Zoo, 8400 31st St., Brookfield. 8. Lights Out for Cancer, 6 p.m. Saturday,
