There’s lots of family fun planned for Oak Brook’s Oktoberfest, noon-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Central Park, 1450 Forest Gate Road.
“The Village is coming in to provide all of the family events for us,” reported Jessica Cannaday, marketing manager of Oak Brook Park District. “From 1-3 p.m., there will be pony rides. The Fire Department will be onsite doing really neat interactive demonstrations. We’ll have the bounce house set up. There’ll be face painters. And Ronald McDonald will be onsite to meet the kids.” There will also be balloon animals, a pumpkin walk and craft projects.
The New Invaders will do a ’60s rock revue from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and 7th Heaven, charted No. 1 on the Midwest Billboard Charts twice in the past two years, performs from 5-7 p.m.
Kids should get a kick out of watching a Home Run Derby at 6:30 p.m. and an adult soccer tournament.

Preschoolers will learn how to be safe in case of fire at Stop, Drop and Roll, 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the La Grange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave. Firemen will show kids their firefighting equipment, teach them safety procedures and then take them outside to climb aboard a fire truck at this drop-in event.

Six educational tree houses beckon kids ages 2-10 in the “Tree House Tales Exhibition” at the Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Rte. 53, Lisle. The imaginative exhibit, open daily through Nov., is free with the admission fee.
