Halloween comes early to the Village of Hinsdale. Kids are encouraged to wear their costumes to the free Fall Family Fest, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Burlington Park, 30 E. Chicago Ave.
“There’s a costume parade. We walk over with the kids from the middle school,” said Parks and Recreation director Gina Hassett. From 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., costumes will be judged in the chamber of commerce tent. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m.
Throughout the event, there will be inflatables, carnival games and pumpkin decorating. The Hinsdale Public Library is sponsoring a performance by magician Paul Lee at 12:30 p.m., and kids can trick or treat downtown from noon-3 p.m.
This is Hinsdale’s fifth annual Fall Fest. Hassett noted that a number of community groups come together to make the event happen, including the village, library and chamber of commerce. “It’s a great one-day event for the community,” she said.
