Eight-year-old Jake Helm is spreading holiday cheer as Tiny Tim in the Drury Lane Theatre for Young Adults’ production of “A Christmas Carol.” The second-grader at Ascension School in Oak Park rotates the role with Quin Sitt.

Jake described Tiny Tim as “a poor little crippled boy that really wishes that he could be able to do more than he can do—but he’s still happy.”

What makes Tiny Tim happy is “his family and the love,” Jake said. The little boy even likes the miserly Mr. Scrooge but, “mostly at the end of the show when he gets better.”

The last four performances of the one-hour version of “A Christmas Carol” are 10 a.m. and noon, Friday, Dec. 20, and 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace. Tickets are $15. A theater/breakfast buffet with Santa package is offered at 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 21 for $30; $25 for ages 12 and under.
